Netflix has exciting news for fans of the acclaimed video game Sifu: they're bringing its intense narrative to life on the big screen. Initially announced back in 2022, the film adaptation was being crafted by Story Kitchen in collaboration with the game's developer, Sloclap. However, according to reports from Deadline, the project has seen a significant expansion in its production team.

Netflix has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, the creative mind behind the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's own Project Adam, to write the screenplay. Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's story, might still have a role in the project, though his current involvement remains uncertain.

The production team has been bolstered by the addition of Chad Stahelski, the renowned director of the John Wick series, and his company, 87Eleven Entertainment, who will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also engaged in another high-profile video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, further showcasing his commitment to bringing gaming stories to film.

Since its launch in 2022, Sifu has captured the hearts of gamers worldwide, selling over one million copies in just three weeks. The game follows the journey of a young martial artist on a quest for vengeance after their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that resurrects them upon death but ages them several years, the protagonist navigates a treacherous path filled with danger and intrigue.
