Square Enix recently held a special NieR 15th Anniversary Livestream, where they unveiled a series of exciting announcements to celebrate this significant milestone. From upcoming novels to exhibitions, concerts, and exclusive merchandise, there's a lot in store for fans. Dive in to discover what's planned for the NieR franchise and get the latest updates on Re[in]carnation’s monthly developer blog.
Square Enix marked NieR’s 15th Anniversary with a flurry of announcements during their livestream on April 19. One of the highlights was the reveal of NieR’s online Special Novel, titled [U]ndecided Option. This novel will be released in three parts, with the first part already available. The subsequent updates are scheduled for April 25 and May 2. The novel's intriguing synopsis reads, "Such a 'servant' meets a mysterious boy with a mysterious air and is guided."
To keep fans engaged, Square Enix also launched a dedicated 15th Anniversary website, serving as the central hub for the online special novel and other upcoming projects and events related to the anniversary celebration.
Square Enix is set to host an exhibition at Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Japan, showcasing new artwork featuring the protagonists from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation. Details on tickets and other information will be shared soon.
Music lovers can look forward to additional performances of the NieR: Orchestra Concert 12024, scheduled for Osaka on July 25 and 26, and Tokyo on August 2 and 3. Tickets are available through a lottery system, with more details on the concert's official website.
Merchandise enthusiasts will be thrilled with the upcoming releases, including a jazz album from NieR: Dinner Show – Somethin’ or Other 12024, set for December 2024, the NieR Weapon Story book featuring over 650 weapon stories from Replicant, Automata, and Re[in]carnation, and scale figures of the NieR series protagonists.
Starting April 28, NieR Re[in]carnation, the first mobile title in the NieR series, will launch a developer blog series. Monthly updates will be released throughout the year, offering insights into the development process of Re[in]carnation.
Originally released in January 2021, the game was unfortunately shut down in April 2024 due to monetization issues. The announcement of a developer blog for a closed game has sparked speculation among fans about a potential sequel or remake, though no official statements have been made yet.
The livestream concluded with a captivating 20+ minute live performance, featuring soundtracks from across the NieR franchise. Square Enix promises more exciting events and merchandise announcements in the near future, ensuring that the celebration of NieR’s 15th Anniversary continues to delight fans.
