NieR: Automata - Where To Get Beast Hide

NieR: Automata boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, allowing players to experiment across multiple playthroughs. Each weapon offers multiple upgrade tiers, extending their usefulness and enabling completion of the game with a variety of choices.

Weapon upgrades are accessible at the Resistance Camp, requiring specific resources. One crucial, yet less readily available material is Beast Hides. This guide details efficient farming strategies.

Obtaining Beast Hides in NieR: Automata

Beast Hides are acquired by defeating wildlife such as moose and boar. These creatures appear randomly in designated map areas, generally avoiding players and robots. Their white icons on the mini-map distinguish them from the black icons of machines. Farming wildlife is less straightforward than farming machines due to their less frequent spawns.

Moose and boar inhabit the ruined city and forest zones. Their behavior (fleeing or attacking) depends on the player's level relative to theirs. Higher-level animals might become aggressive even at a distance. Wildlife possesses substantial health, making early-game encounters challenging, especially against similarly leveled or stronger opponents.

Animal Bait can lure wildlife, simplifying their defeat.

Wildlife, unlike consistently spawning enemies, requires active searching during exploration. Respawn mechanics mirror those of machines:

  • Fast traveling resets all enemies and wildlife.
  • Sufficient distance traveled triggers respawns in previously visited areas.
  • Story progression can also trigger respawns.

Efficient Beast Hide farming lacks a simple, dedicated method. Consistently eliminating encountered wildlife within forest and city ruin areas usually provides sufficient hides. The relatively high drop rate ensures that stockpiling excessive hides is unnecessary, especially if upgrading only currently equipped weapons.
