"Nintendo Reveals Price Hikes for Switch 2 Games: Kirby and Super Mario Party Jamboree"

Nintendo has announced the upgrade costs for two more games from the original Nintendo Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, namely Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree. These upgrades come with a hefty price tag, significantly higher than other upgrades.

Previously, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom were available for a $9.99 upgrade from the original Switch version to the Switch 2 Edition. However, NintendoLife reported that the upgrades for Kirby and the Forgotten Land and Super Mario Party Jamboree are more than double this price.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced Edition of Breath of the Wild offers improved visuals and performance, achievements, and integrates with the new "Zelda Notes" service on the Nintendo Switch Online app. Owners of the original Breath of the Wild can access these enhancements by purchasing an "upgrade pack" for $10.

The Switch 2 Edition of Kirby and the Forgotten Land introduces new story content in the Star-Crossed World. Meanwhile, Super Mario Party Jamboree's Switch 2 Edition includes Jamboree TV, a new suite of content that utilizes the Joy-Con 2 mouse controls, Switch 2 microphone, and the separately sold Switch 2 USB-C camera. These editions also boast an upgraded resolution up to 1440p in TV mode, improved frame rates, new minigames, and enhanced online features.

While U.S. prices on the American Nintendo eShop are not yet available—potentially due to President Trump's tariffs—the UK Nintendo eShop lists the upgrade pack for Kirby and the Forgotten Land at £16.99 / €19.99, over twice the £7.99 / €9.99 charged for upgrading either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom. The upgrade for Super Mario Party Jamboree is similarly priced, suggesting a U.S. price of $19.99.

The high upgrade cost of $20 for both games may be influenced by the $80 price tag for the full Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of Kirby and The Forgotten Land - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star Crossed World and Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV. The original Switch versions of these games are priced at $59.99 each, making them $20 cheaper.

For those not upgrading, here are the prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games in the U.S.:

It's worth noting that the upgrade packs for Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are available at no extra cost to Nintendo Switch Online and Expansion Pack subscribers. Unfortunately, there is no similar offer for those looking to upgrade Kirby or Super Mario Party Jamboree.

Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 began on April 24, with the console priced at $449.99. The high demand has led Nintendo to warn U.S. customers who pre-ordered via the My Nintendo Store that release date delivery is not guaranteed.
