Nintendo Shadow Drops Fire Emblem Shadows, a New Smartphone Spin-Off with Social Deduction

Author:Kristen Update:Sep 26,2026

Surprise! Nintendo has unveiled Fire Emblem Shadows, an all-new free-to-play mobile title available for immediate download.

Released simultaneously on iOS and Android, this latest entry blends the franchise’s signature tactical RPG mechanics with social deduction gameplay. Can you identify which hero in your party is secretly a traitor? Or will you take on the role of the shadow yourself?

This marks an unexpected move for Nintendo, which hasn’t released a dedicated smartphone game since its 2021 partnership with Niantic to launch Pikmin Bloom. However, given that the previous mobile title, Fire Emblem Heroes, generated over $650 million in revenue within three years of its 2017 gacha-style debut, a new spin-off is a logical step.

Fire Emblem Shadows is now live!

The game’s description reads: “Choose light or shadow and engage in strategic combat with two disciples of light and one disciple of shadow.” Following the first battle, players vote to identify their suspected traitor. The outcome depends on whether the light disciples can uncover the deception or if the shadow disciple successfully misleads them.

Promotional artwork features both light and shadow variants of beloved characters like Lyn. She is available at launch and unlocks more quickly for users who upgrade to the premium tier of the first battle pass.

You can start your download now via the iPhone App Store or Google Play.
