Nintendo has officially confirmed that the mysterious new button on the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con is indeed the C button, putting an end to the swirling rumors. This confirmation came through the newly released Nintendo Today! app, where a close look at the app's promotional images on the App Store and Google Play clearly shows the letter "C" on the button.

The C button was first revealed alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year, but initial images of the new Joy-Con did not feature any letter on the button. However, prior reports had already hinted at it being called the "C" button, and those rumors have now been validated.

Speculation about the function of the C button is rampant. Some believe it could be related to "casting" the Switch 2 to a TV wirelessly or facilitating screen sharing. Meanwhile, Nintendo recently hosted a Direct focused on the original Switch, during which the Nintendo Today! app was announced. Video game legend Shigeru Miyamoto revealed this new app as a last-minute surprise during the showcase. The Nintendo Today! app is designed to be a comprehensive hub for Nintendo fans, offering a daily calendar and news updates to keep players informed in real-time.

Miyamoto highlighted that following the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct next week, fans can use the Nintendo Today! app to stay updated on all the latest news, with new information being released daily.
