People Can Fly Cancels Outriders Sequel Amid Studio Restructuring

Author:Kristen Update:Jul 23,2025

Developer People Can Fly recently terminated Outriders 2, according to recent reports.

The Polish studio, recognized for Outriders and Gears of War Judgment, announced additional job cuts in early June after halting two projects: Project Gemini and Project Bifrost.

CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski’s statement at the time omitted details about the publishers involved, but PCF’s website revealed Gemini was a collaboration with Square Enix, while Bifrost was self-published.

The cancellations prompted internal team reorganization, following the April termination of Project Dagger, an action-adventure title initially co-developed with Take-Two Interactive until their withdrawal in September 2022.

A Thumb Wars report, supported by Insider Gaming, confirmed Project Gemini was an Outriders sequel, canceled during motion capture production.

Square Enix offered no comment when approached by IGN. People Can Fly has not yet responded.

The studio previously reduced its workforce by laying off 120 employees last year. It is now collaborating with Krafton on Project Echo, Sony on Project Delta, and Microsoft on Gears of War: E-Day.

IGN’s Outriders review scored a 7/10, noting: “Outriders delivers thrilling sci-fi shooting and looting, despite its weak story and rough edges.” PCF’s latest release, Bulletstorm VR, is an enhanced version of the classic shooter for Meta Quest and PSVR 2.
