Summary

  • Overwatch 2 returns to China on February 19 with rewards from Seasons 1-9.
  • Chinese players can earn Battle Pass rewards and participate in exciting in-game events.
  • Season 15 will feature skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology, though details are limited.

Overwatch 2 is making a grand return to China, allowing players to dive back into the action on Future Earth starting February 19, coinciding with the launch of Season 15. This relaunch brings with it a treasure trove of rewards from Seasons 1 through 9, including Battle Pass rewards and exciting in-game events that Chinese players have eagerly awaited.

Recently, Overwatch 2 announced its much-anticipated return to the Chinese market. The game will officially relaunch on February 19, following a successful technical test from January 8 to 15. This test provided fans with a sneak peek at the content they missed, including Overwatch: Classic and the six new heroes added since the servers shut down in China during Season 2.

With the technical test now complete, Overwatch 2 has shared more about what Chinese players can expect. In a message on Xiaohongshu (also known as RedNote), game director Aaron Keller announced a multi-week "Return to China" celebration. This event will feature many of the popular in-game events and rewards missed over the past two years. Chinese players will have the chance to earn Battle Pass rewards from Seasons 1 and 2 before the relaunch, and rewards from Seasons 3 through 9 through in-game events following the game's return.

Chinese Mythology – Theme for Overwatch 2 Season 15?

Keller also teased that Overwatch 2 Season 15 will introduce skin bundles inspired by Chinese mythology. While details are scarce, it's unclear whether these skins will be new or existing, exclusive to China, or part of a broader Chinese mythology theme for Season 15, similar to the Norse mythology-inspired cosmetics of Season 14.

The global Overwatch 2 community won't have to wait long for more information. Season 15 is slated to start on February 18, just before the game's official relaunch in China. With just over a month to go, players can anticipate learning more about the upcoming season soon, with a full reveal expected in early February.

In the meantime, fans worldwide can enjoy "Min 1, Max 3" – the second 6v6 test in Overwatch 2 – running from January 21 through February 4, featuring the classic 2-2-2 team composition. Additionally, the Lunar New Year and the Moth Meta Overwatch: Classic events are scheduled before Season 15. While Chinese players may not participate in these events, they can look forward to their own special celebrations soon.
