"Palworld Dating Sim Confirmed: Not an April Fools' Joke, Says Dev"

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 19,2025

Developer Pocketpair has exciting news for fans of their massively popular monster-catching game, Palworld. On March 31, they announced Palworld! More Than Just Pals, a dating sim set within the same universe. This isn't an April Fools' Day prank; it's a real game coming to PC via Steam, though the release date remains unspecified.

Given the timing of the announcement, just before April Fools' Day, fans are understandably skeptical. However, Pocketpair assures everyone that Palworld! More Than Just Pals is legitimate, inspired by their 2024 April Fools' Day stunt where they jokingly announced the same game.

Palworld! More Than Just Pals takes players to Palagos Private Academy, where they enroll as a transfer student. The game allows players to befriend and potentially fall in love with student Pals, each with distinct personalities. Characters like the "cute" and "mysterious" Katress and the "timid" Chillet are highlighted on the game's official Steam page, drawing from Palworld's creature roster.

The game's premise is quite unique: "You, the protagonist, enroll as a transfer student in the prestigious Palagos Private Academy," Pocketpair explains. "You will meet unique friends (pals) and enjoy school life through friendship and romance. It's up to you whether you stay friends with the pals, develop romantic relationships with them, or even dismember and eat them."

To dispel any lingering doubts about the announcement, Bucky from the Palworld team tweeted, "This doesn't concern April Fools :)."

As Palworld itself marks its one-year anniversary, fans can look forward to more updates, including recent additions like crossplay support, Blueprint upgrades, and a photo mode. While hopes for a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Palworld remain, fans can at least anticipate the possibility of Palworld! More Than Just Pals making its way to the console in the future.
