Pokémon TCG Pocket finally tackles trading in new update, but it\'s not coming until autumn

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 21,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket is undergoing significant changes to its trading system, addressing player concerns about accessibility and restrictions. The update removes Trading Tokens entirely, replacing them with Shinedust. Shinedust is earned by opening booster packs and receiving duplicate cards already in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens will be automatically converted to Shinedust.

Further changes are planned, including adjustments to Shinedust acquisition and the introduction of an in-game function to share cards you wish to trade. These improvements are expected by autumn.

The initial trading system faced criticism due to the scarcity of Trade Tokens and limitations on trading partners. The shift to Shinedust aims to streamline the process and make trading more accessible. The need for in-game restrictions to prevent abuse is acknowledged.

While these updates are welcomed, the relatively slow implementation—with changes not expected until autumn—may disappoint some players. In the meantime, consider exploring other mobile games featured in our recent "Top Five New Mobile Games" article.
