Get ready for the Pokémon GO Lunar New Year 2025 event! Niantic has announced a celebratory event running from January 29th to February 2nd, packed with opportunities to catch Lucky Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, and earn fantastic rewards.

This event coincides with Pokémon GO's ninth anniversary, setting the stage for a year of exciting updates and events culminating in Pokémon GO Fest. The Lunar New Year event precedes Pokémon GO Tour: Unova (February 21st-23rd in Los Angeles and New Taipei City, global event in March), offering a chance to expand your Pokédex before the next big adventure.

Event Highlights (January 29th, 10:00 AM – February 2nd, 8:00 PM local time):

• Increased Lucky Pokémon Odds: Boost your chances of getting Lucky Pokémon from trades and becoming Lucky Friends.
• Boosted Wild Encounters: Encounter Ekans, Onix, Snivy, Darumaka, Dunsparce, Gyarados, and Dratini more frequently, with increased Shiny rates!
• 2km Egg Surprises: Hatch Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi from 2km Eggs.
• Research Rewards: Complete Field Research and Timed Research tasks for Stardust, XP, Zygarde Cells, and Pokémon encounters. A paid Timed Research ($2) offers enhanced rewards including two Lucky Eggs and an incubator.
• Collection Challenge: Complete the event-themed Collection Challenge for extra Stardust, perfect for traders.
