Pokemon GO Reveals New Gigantamax Debut Coming in Future Event

Pokémon GO announced the arrival of Gigantamax Kingler on February 1st. Last year's highly anticipated Dynamax and Gigantamax update significantly expanded gameplay. Since then, developers have steadily added more Gigantamax Pokémon.

Gigantamax, a powerful Dynamax form, not only increases a Pokémon's size and strength but also alters its appearance and grants unique G-Max Moves. While the main series games feature 32 Gigantamax Pokémon, Pokémon GO currently boasts only six, with Gigantamax Lapras being the most recent addition. This number is set to increase with a new event.

Gigantamax Kingler will debut in Pokémon GO's Max Battle Day on February 1st, from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. This Water-type Pokémon will appear in six-star Max Battles, offering a chance to encounter a shiny variant. Players can utilize Max Mushrooms, items temporarily increasing damage dealt by Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon in Max Battles.

During the event, players can collect up to 1600 Max Particles, crucial for participating in Max Battles. All Power Spots will feature Gigantamax Battles, refresh more frequently, and yield eight times the usual Max Particles. From 12 am to 5 pm on February 1st, players will earn double Max Particles while exploring and will need to travel only a quarter of the usual distance to obtain them. A $5 ticket offers a Max Mushroom, 25,000 XP, double XP from Max Battles, and a boosted Max Particle collection limit (5600). A $7.99 bundle with six Max Particle packs will be available on the Pokémon GO Web Store.

Max Battle Day is one of February's events, but not the only one. Niantic announced the Lunar New Year event (January 29th – February 1st). While Gigantamax Kingler's debut is separate, players can also anticipate the Shadow Ho-Oh Shadow Raid Day on January 19th and the upcoming arrival of more Galar Pokémon.
