Pokémon Champions, Game Freak's Leaked Multiplayer Game, Officially Revealed

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 18,2025

After months of speculation and leaks, Pokémon Champions, a new multiplayer battle-focused Pokémon game, has finally been unveiled. This exciting collaboration between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works (a joint venture between The Pokémon Company and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl developer ILCA) promises a fresh take on Pokémon battling.

Pokémon Champions utilizes the series' core battle system, allowing players to engage in online battles against each other. The reveal trailer showcased both Mega Evolution and Terastallization, hinting at a broad range of Pokémon and battle styles across various generations.

PlayA key feature is its integration with Pokémon Home, enabling players to transfer Pokémon from other games into Pokémon Champions, finally giving a purpose to those hundreds of Pokémon gathering digital dust in storage boxes.

Currently in development for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, Pokémon Champions lacks a concrete release date. However, it's confirmed that Latin American Spanish will be among the supported languages at launch.

Interestingly, Pokémon Champions appears to be the same game that leaked last year as "Pokémon Synapse," part of the massive "Freak Leak." While initial details were scarce, suggesting a multiplayer game with comparisons to Splatoon, the official reveal clarifies its core focus on competitive Pokémon battles.
