Power Rangers is reportedly getting a live-action reboot on Disney+. The Wrap reports that Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz are in negotiations to write, showrun, and produce the series for Disney+ and 20th Century Television.

Hasbro, the current owner of the Power Rangers franchise, aims to revitalize the series for a new generation while retaining the appeal for longtime fans.

The 90s television show, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, captivated a generation of children with its teenage superheroes and their combinable mechs.

In 2018, Hasbro acquired the Power Rangers franchise and other Saban Brands properties for $522 million, citing the brand's "tremendous upside potential." Brian Goldner, Hasbro's then-chairman and CEO, stated, “We see significant opportunity for Power Rangers across our entire Brand Blueprint, including toys and games, consumer products, digital gaming and entertainment, as well as geographically throughout our global retail footprint.”

PlayThis acquisition followed the underperforming 2017 film reboot, which attempted a grittier approach but failed to generate anticipated box office success, ultimately leading to the sale of the rights.

Other notable Hasbro projects in development include a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series, The Forgotten Realms, for Netflix; an animated Magic: The Gathering series, also for Netflix; and a Magic: The Gathering cinematic universe.
