Originally launched on December 1, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Rainbow Six Siege later arrived on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 2020), the game has enjoyed consistent updates, establishing itself as a long-running live-service shooter. Rainbow Six Siege X aims to further extend the franchise's lifespan.

A February 17, 2025, Steam post revealed the upcoming Season 1 operator, Aurora, with her unique bulletproof door deployment ability. A new elite skin for Aruni and a revamped reputation system rewarding or penalizing player behavior will also launch in Season 1, Operation Prep Phase, on March 4, 2025, to celebrate the game's 10th anniversary.

Given the timing of Season 10's launch and the Rainbow Six Siege X showcase, the major upgrades are expected to be implemented on live servers at a later date.
