R.E.P.O Console Release Confirmed

*R.E.P.O.*, the thrilling co-op horror game that hit the market in February, has captured the attention of gamers worldwide, boasting over 200,000 players on PC. However, fans eagerly awaiting a console version might be in for a disappointment.

Is *R.E.P.O.* Coming to Consoles?

As of now, *R.E.P.O.* is exclusively a PC game, with no plans announced for a console release. The developer, semiwork, has been focusing entirely on refining the game's multiplayer experience rather than expanding to other platforms. They are currently grappling with significant challenges, particularly in preventing the game from becoming a hotspot for hackers while maintaining support for mods.

“The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that,” a statement from the developer reveals, as reported by PCGamer. This dilemma underscores their priority to perfect the PC version before considering any console port.

While other PC-exclusive titles like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a thematic resemblance to *R.E.P.O.* by involving stealth and monster evasion, have also stayed PC-only. The developers of *Content Warning* expressed interest in a console version last year but cited technical difficulties, and since then, there has been no further update on a potential release.

In conclusion, while *R.E.P.O.* has not been slated for consoles and the developer's focus remains on enhancing the PC multiplayer experience, fans should keep an eye on future announcements. For now, the game will continue to thrill and chill PC gamers exclusively.
