After nearly four years of silence, Riot Games has finally confirmed that their tactical hero shooter, Valorant, is set to make its way to mobile devices. The development is being handled by Tencent-owned Lightspeed Studios, and while an exact release date remains under wraps, the initial launch will focus on the Chinese market before expanding globally.

Valorant, which blends the precision of Counter-Strike with the unique abilities of Overwatch, offers a thrilling 13-round 5v5 match format. Each player has one life per round, and the gameplay often revolves around planting or defusing a bomb, a mechanic familiar to fans of Counter-Strike.

The collaboration between Riot and Lightspeed comes as no surprise, given their shared ownership under Tencent. However, this official announcement is a welcome update after such a long wait for news on Valorant Mobile.

ytValorousGiven the dominance of Android in China, a multi-OS release seems almost certain. Riot has confirmed that Lightspeed is actively working on the project, and the strategy is to launch first in China.

This news also hints at a broader release in the future. However, due to ongoing trade issues and the importance of smartphones in mobile gaming, it might be some time before Tencent, Lightspeed, and Riot provide a definitive global release date for Valorant on mobile.
