Rocksteady Seeks Game Director for Next Batman Title

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 13,2025

Rocksteady Studios, renowned for its acclaimed Batman: Arkham series, is searching for a Game Director for its next major project. Warner Bros. Discovery posted the job listing on February 17th, revealing a focus on creating a "high-quality game design." The ideal candidate will possess expertise in diverse genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee combat—a profile that strongly suggests a potential return to the Batman universe.

The job description emphasizes core gameplay mechanics, player progression, combat systems, and mission design. This aligns perfectly with the Batman: Arkham trilogy, unlike Rocksteady's recent release, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which prioritized gunplay over hand-to-hand combat.

As the hiring process is in its early stages, the game is likely still in the conceptual phase. Industry insider Jason Schreier indicates that, should Rocksteady develop a new single-player Batman title, it wouldn't launch for several years.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, released February 2nd, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, received mixed reception, scoring 63/100 on Metacritic (critics) and 4.2/10 (users).

Previous reports hinted at Rocksteady revisiting the Batman franchise, with speculation focusing on a project inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
