Rory McCann Debuts as Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka at Star Wars Celebration

Author:Kristen Update:May 13,2025

Star Wars Celebration has unveiled our initial glimpse of Rory McCann stepping into the role of Baylan Skoll for Season 2 of Ahsoka. Previously portrayed by the late Ray Stevenson, who tragically passed away from a brief illness just three months before the series' premiere, Baylan was seen as a highlight of the show by many fans. Stevenson was renowned for his roles in films like Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, and the series Rome.

The Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration provided fans with a first-look image of McCann as Baylan, which you can view below.

Series creator Dave Filoni expressed the profound impact of losing Ray Stevenson, describing him as "the most beautiful person on screen and off," and highlighted the challenges this loss presented in developing Season 2.

Excitingly, the panel also shared insights into what fans can anticipate in the upcoming season. Hayden Christensen will reprise his iconic role as Anakin Skywalker, joined by characters like Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, Chopper, and more.

In our review of Ahsoka's first season, we noted that it "struggles in its early episodes as the series works to get viewers up to speed on characters and concepts introduced in Dave Filoni’s animated Star Wars shows. But once the actors and cosmic plots are really given time to shine, Ahsoka finds a wonderful mix of rich lore, humor, and big battles that make it feel like classic Star Wars while also forging a path to something new."
