Rumor: The First Specs Of The Nvidia RTX 5090 Have Leaked

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 20,2025

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090: 32GB GDDR7 Memory, 575W Power Draw, and a High Price Tag

Leaked information suggests Nvidia's upcoming GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card will pack a whopping 32GB of GDDR7 video memory—double that of the anticipated RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti. However, this impressive performance comes at a cost: a significant 575W power draw. The official unveiling of the RTX 50 series, including the RTX 5090, is set for Nvidia's CES keynote on January 6th, 2025.

The RTX 50 series, codenamed Blackwell, represents Nvidia's next-generation graphics card lineup, arriving more than two years after the RTX 40 series launch. Building on its predecessor, the RTX 50 series will leverage Tensor Cores for AI processing, and include features like DLSS upscaling, ray tracing, and PCIe 5.0 support (on compatible motherboards). This new generation will replace the RTX 40 series (some models of which, like the RTX 4090D and RTX 4070, have already been discontinued) and compete directly with AMD's Radeon RX 9000 series and Intel's Battlemage GPUs.

Pre-CES leaks, initially reported by VideoCardz, showcased Inno3D's iChill X3 RTX 5090. This three-fan card, occupying over three expansion slots, confirms the 32GB GDDR7 memory and the substantial 575W power requirement—a notable increase from the RTX 4090's 450W.

The RTX 5090: High Memory, High Power, High Price?

Key features of the RTX 5090, as revealed by Nvidia partner Inno3D, include:

  • 32GB GDDR7 Memory: Twice the memory of the projected RTX 5080 and 5070 Ti.
  • 575W Power Draw: Demands a high-capacity power supply.
  • Official Reveal: January 6th, 2025, at CES.

The RTX 50 series will utilize a 16-pin power connector, though adapters will be available. While the specifications are impressive, the RTX 5090 is expected to command a premium price, potentially starting at $1,999 or more. Nvidia has yet to confirm pricing.

The RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti will also be unveiled alongside the RTX 5090 during Nvidia's CES presentation. The arrival of this new generation promises significant advancements, but the ultimate consumer reception remains to be seen.
