Rumor: Rocksteady Studios is developing a new Batman game

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 27,2025

Reputable gaming journalist Jason Schreier reports that the celebrated Rocksteady Studios is developing a new, single-player Batman game.

Specific details remain limited; Schreier hasn't confirmed if it's a prequel, a sequel to the Arkham series, or a completely separate title. However, a source suggests Rocksteady is creating a Batman Beyond game, transporting players to a futuristic Gotham City. The ambitious plan? A full trilogy. The game's release is anticipated on next-generation consoles.

The Arkham series was lauded for its stunning visuals, and a futuristic Gotham setting could be Rocksteady's most impressive achievement yet. The Batman Beyond concept also addresses a significant challenge: Batman's voice. Following the passing of Kevin Conroy in 2022, the studio might focus on Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne – a similar approach considered by Warner Bros. Montreal for their canceled Arkham Knight sequel.

Rocksteady's previous project, an online shooter, underperformed, leading to the cancellation of post-launch content within a year. The narrative concluded with a rushed animated sequence that retconned controversial plot points, revealing key characters to be clones.

Rocksteady is now returning to its core strength: developing solo Batman adventures. However, industry insiders caution that this new project is still several years from release.
