Rumor: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Canceled

The highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, first teased in September 2021, remains shrouded in uncertainty. Recent claims by Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and Syphon Filter veteran, suggest the project may have been completely halted. Smith's X post contradicts Saber Interactive's 2024 statement that development was ongoing, alleging that some team members have been reassigned, while others were laid off. This news, if accurate, would undoubtedly devastate fans eagerly awaiting this iconic RPG's remake.

Smith has a track record of credible insider information, accurately predicting a Housemarque game announcement. However, his past inaccuracies regarding Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima release dates warrant cautious consideration of his latest claims.

As of yet, Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not offered any official comment, leaving the future of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake in limbo.
