Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Now Launched, Ultra-Slim Design

Author:Kristen Update:May 25,2025

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge at its May Unpacked event, introducing its latest flagship smartphone. While the Galaxy S25 Edge shares many features with the earlier-released Galaxy S25, its standout feature is a significantly thinner design, aptly giving it an "Edge."

Comparing spec for spec, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge closely mirrors the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Both devices are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and boast a 200MP camera. The primary difference lies in the chassis, which has been streamlined to a mere 5.8mm thick—down from the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This slimmed-down design also results in a lighter weight of just 163g.

Despite its sleek profile, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the Galaxy S25, even though it closely matches the specs of the slightly larger 6.9-inch Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and large form factor, durability is a critical concern. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is touted to be more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The real test, however, will be how it withstands everyday pressures, such as being sat on in a pocket, rather than just surviving drops. This raises questions about potential "bendgate" issues.

The Galaxy S25 Edge also comes equipped with the suite of "Mobile AI" tools introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and refined throughout 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables robust on-device AI processing, enhancing privacy by reducing reliance on cloud-based AI services. Additionally, Samsung offers features like notification and news article summarization for a quick glance at essential information.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, with the 256GB model starting at $1,099 and the 512GB model at $1,219. The phone is available in three color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is confident that this slim smartphone is built to last. Time will tell if their claims hold true.
