SoMoGa Drops A Revamped Version Of 16-Bit Classic JRPG Vay On Android

SoMoGa Inc. has unleashed a revitalized version of Vay on Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG returns with enhanced graphics, a modernized user interface, and controller support.

Originally launched in Japan in 1993 for the Sega CD (developed by Hertz and localized by Working Designs), Vay received a 2008 iOS re-release courtesy of SoMoGa. This latest iteration builds upon that legacy.

What's New in the Revamped Vay?

This updated Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and exploration across 90 diverse areas. A standout feature is its adjustable difficulty settings. Auto-saving is now included, and Bluetooth controller support offers flexible gameplay. Players can acquire new equipment and spells as characters level up, and an AI system allows for autonomous character combat.

The Story:

Set in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war, the game centers on a colossal, malfunctioning machine that crashed onto the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay. Its destructive programming caused widespread devastation.

Players embark on a quest to rescue their abducted wife and potentially save the world. The narrative begins on their wedding day, with the bride's kidnapping igniting an epic journey to confront the war machines.

Vay's story blends classic JRPG elements (experience and gold from random encounters) with a captivating narrative. Nearly ten minutes of animated cutscenes are included, with both English and Japanese audio options.

Vay's revamped version is available now on the Google Play Store for $5.99. This premium title offers a nostalgic yet fresh gaming experience. Check out our other gaming news for more updates.
