Spider-Man 4 Slightly Delayed to Avoid Clash with Nolan's The Odyssey

Author:Kristen Update:May 06,2025

The much-anticipated fourth installment of the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man series has been pushed back by one week, now slated to swing into theaters on July 31, 2026. This slight delay from the initial July 24, 2026 release date seems strategically planned to avoid clashing with the premiere of Christopher Nolan's epic, The Odyssey.

By shifting its release date, the new Spider-Man movie will now debut two weeks after The Odyssey, rather than just one week apart. This move not only provides a more comfortable window for both films but also ensures that each can enjoy a stint on Imax screens—a feature highly favored by Nolan.

Interestingly, Tom Holland will be starring in both films, so he's unlikely to mind the change. Marvel has confirmed that this fourth Spider-Man adventure will follow the blockbuster Avengers: Doomsday, set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. The Spider-Man sequel will be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and was initially slated to direct the next Avengers film before a shift in storylines due to the situation surrounding the Kang character.

In a surprising turn of events, the Russo Brothers are returning to direct Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the villainous role of Doctor Doom.
