Square Enix Role-Playing Gem Re-Emerges on Nintendo Switch

Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Good news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed tactical RPG from Square Enix, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. The game's brief absence, lasting several days, may be linked to Square Enix recently acquiring the publishing rights from Nintendo.

This Square Enix title, lauded for its revival of classic tactical RPG gameplay, draws comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem. Its strategic combat, focusing on unit placement and maximizing damage, has resonated with players.

Following a silent delisting, Square Enix confirmed Triangle Strategy's return to the eShop via Twitter. Speculation points to the recent publishing rights transfer from Nintendo as the reason for the temporary unavailability. This isn't unprecedented; Octopath Traveler experienced a similar, albeit longer, delisting last year.

The swift return of Triangle Strategy—a mere four-day hiatus compared to Octopath Traveler's weeks-long absence—is welcome news for Nintendo Switch players. It underscores the ongoing strong relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo, a partnership evident in past releases like the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially a Switch exclusive) and the original release of Dragon Quest 11 on the Switch. While Square Enix expands its releases to other platforms, its history of Switch exclusives, including the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive), continues.
