Square Enix Debuts Killer Inn: Team-Based Mystery Game at Summer Game Fest

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 17,2026

At the Summer Game Fest showcase, Square Enix introduced Killer Inn, an engaging new social deduction game.

Developed by Tactics Studio, Killer Inn is a murder mystery where players split into two teams—lambs and wolves—and enter a sprawling mansion. Wolves aim to eliminate all lambs, while lambs work to uncover the wolves’ identities to halt their killing spree, with no one knowing their teammates initially.

Players navigate the mansion, gathering survival tools, gear, and weapons from chests and merchants. Completing quests earns tokens, which unlock premium chests for enhanced equipment. With over 20 unique characters, each with upgradable abilities, players can wield various weapons, from firearms to knives and grenades, to confront opponents.

When a player is killed, their body reveals clues—such as hair, skin, fingerprints, blood, or clothing—that help identify the culprit. The game’s UI tracks these clues, marking increasingly suspicious players to aid deduction.

Once a lamb identifies a wolf, they must eliminate them before more murders occur. Killing another lamb results in automatic elimination, discouraging reckless attacks. Safe zones, where wolves cannot kill due to staff revealing their identity, are scattered throughout. Lambs can also win by unlocking and escaping on a boat at the harbor, a challenging task.

Killer Inn is preparing for a closed Steam beta soon, with no confirmed release date yet.
