Star Wars Celebration Confirms Oscar Isaac Appearance, Sparking Rumors of His Return to the Galaxy Far, Far Away

Star Wars enthusiasts are buzzing with excitement as Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac is set to make an official appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo, taking place from April 18 to 20. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, has ignited speculation about the potential return of Isaac's beloved character, Poe Dameron, to the iconic galaxy far, far away.

The precedent was set at Star Wars Celebration 2023 when Daisy Ridley, who portrayed Rey, announced her involvement in a new film during her appearance. This has led fans to wonder if Isaac might follow suit and reveal plans for Poe Dameron's comeback.

The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with "Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker," leaving a mixed legacy among fans and actors alike. Isaac has publicly shared his fluctuating sentiments about returning to the franchise, initially stating in 2020 that he would only consider it if he needed "another house or something." However, by 2022, his stance had softened, expressing to Variety that he was "open to anything."

Isaac has also voiced his disappointment with Disney for rejecting his pitch for a romantic storyline between Poe and John Boyega's character, Finn, citing that the "overlords were not ready for that." Similarly, Boyega has expressed his own frustrations with Disney and the franchise, yet he too has indicated openness to future roles.

The anticipation is building around the possibility of seeing all three main characters from the Sequel Trilogy reunite in the upcoming Rey film, set to occur 15 years post-"The Rise of Skywalker." This new installment will focus on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has already voiced her hope for Boyega's return, and with Isaac completing the trio, his reappearance seems increasingly plausible.

While fans eagerly await definitive announcements at Star Wars Celebration 2025, patience will be required. Disney has repeatedly delayed the release of several announced Star Wars films, including the Rey film directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, which now has a potential release date of December 17, 2027.
