Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles includes a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Jar Jar wielding a large staff, engaging in combat with various enemies, and utilizing his characteristically chaotic vocalizations.

The remastered Jedi Power Battles, originally released in 2000, aims to recapture the nostalgia of the original while adding new content. This includes customizable lightsaber colors, cheat code support, and a significantly expanded roster of playable characters.

Beyond Jar Jar Binks, Aspyr has unveiled nine additional playable characters, hinting at more to come. This diverse lineup includes the Staff Tusken Raider, Rodian, several droid types (Flame Droid, Destroyer Droid, Rifle Droid), and the Gungan Guard. The inclusion of these characters, alongside the updated features, promises a fresh yet familiar experience for fans.

The game's launch is scheduled for January 23rd, allowing players to soon experience these additions firsthand. Aspyr's track record with other classic Star Wars game updates, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, suggests a potential for a well-executed and satisfying remaster. Pre-orders are currently available.
