Star Wars: Hunters, Zynga's debut venture into the iconic franchise, is set to close its doors just over a year after its initial launch on iOS and Android. The game, which captivated audiences with its unique blend of game show aesthetics and innovative takes on Star Wars archetypes, debuted in June 2024. However, it has now been announced that the game will officially shut down on October 1st of this year, with a final content update scheduled for April 15th. In light of this news, players can now request refunds for any in-game currency, and the third season will be extended, featuring reruns of seasonal events.

Fans eager to experience the last addition to the roster, the hunter Tuya, will still have the chance to play with them in multiplayer. Tuya will be introduced in the final content update and will be available to all players at no cost from the start.

Star Wars: Hunters Final Update

The End of the Journey

The decision to shutter Star Wars: Hunters has come as a surprise to many, as there were few signs that the game was underperforming. Given Zynga's robust standing in the gaming industry, it seems there may be deeper reasons behind the game's closure. One possible explanation could be the saturation of the pseudo-hero shooter genre, coupled with a shifting demographic among Star Wars fans. Today's average Star Wars viewer tends to be older and may not be as interested in a high-energy, mobile multiplayer experience.
