"Stellar Blade DRM, Region Lock Problems Solved Before PC Launch"

Author:Kristen Update:May 29,2025

As the highly anticipated release of Stellar Blade draws near, developer SHIFT UP has taken to addressing two major concerns surrounding the game's PC version: DRM and region lock issues. Fans have expressed their worries, and the studio has responded with clarity and transparency.

One of the biggest points of contention is the inclusion of Denuvo (DRM), a digital rights management system designed to combat piracy. While DRM has long been a contentious topic due to its potential impact on game performance, SHIFT UP reassured players in a recent Twitter (X) post on May 17. According to their tests, the game maintains consistent performance with or without DRM. Their performance metrics—including average, minimum, and maximum framerates—show virtually identical results whether the DRM is enabled or disabled. Furthermore, the game fully supports mods without restrictions, alleviating another common concern tied to DRM implementations.

Fans were appreciative of the studio’s openness on this matter, though many hoped SHIFT UP would opt for a DRM-free approach to ensure accessibility for all players. Regardless, the studio’s efforts to minimize performance impacts have helped ease tensions among the community.

Addressing Region Lock Concerns

Another issue that has sparked debate is the region lock tied to PlayStation services. Despite Stellar Blade not requiring a PlayStation Network (PSN) account for gameplay, certain regions globally will remain inaccessible due to PSN’s lack of support. Currently, over 130 countries face this limitation. In response, SHIFT UP stated they are actively working with their publisher to address the problem. The studio promised that both the PC and PS5 versions of the game will deliver the same content, ensuring early adopters won’t suffer disadvantages in future updates.

While fans acknowledge the effort to resolve the issue, many still wish the game could avoid PSN-related restrictions altogether. For now, the PC version of Stellar Blade is scheduled to launch on June 11 via Steam. To keep up with the latest developments, stay tuned to trusted sources for updates.
