With the Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon, anticipation is building for its launch day lineup. While official announcements are pending, let's speculate on potential titles. Nintendo boasts a strong library, making some predictions – like a new Mario game – highly probable. We also hope to see some previously announced indie projects.

While expecting all these games on day one is optimistic, even half would make for a fantastic launch. Here are our hopeful predictions for the Switch 2's launch title lineup:
Mario Kart 9
A decade since Mario Kart 8's release, a new installment is highly anticipated. Mario Kart 8's immense success across Wii U and Switch makes a sequel a near certainty. While details remain scarce, a "new twist" is rumored, promising fresh innovation to extend the series' legacy. A Switch 2 launch alongside this title would be a powerful statement.
New 3D Super Mario
The Switch surprisingly only features one new 3D Mario title (Super Mario Odyssey) since its release in 2017. A new 3D platformer with inventive gameplay, level design, and collectibles is long overdue. A simultaneous release with Mario Kart 9 would be a dream scenario, showcasing the future of Nintendo's flagship franchise.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
After years of anticipation and a developer change, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is generating excitement. Its smooth gameplay suggests a potential Switch 2 release, ending the long wait for fans.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Enhanced
Backward compatibility is expected, but enhanced versions of these acclaimed titles, leveraging the Switch 2's power for improved visuals and performance (perhaps 4K and higher frame rates), would be a welcome addition.
Ring Fit Adventure 2
Nintendo often includes a unique title at console launches. The success of Ring Fit Adventure suggests a sequel, utilizing the Switch 2's capabilities for a new fitness-focused experience.
Resident Evil 4 Remake
The original Switch lacked the power for Capcom's Resident Evil 4 Remake, but the Switch 2 might offer a platform for this critically acclaimed title. Its inclusion would showcase the console's graphical capabilities.
Doom: The Dark Ages
While ambitious, the success of previous Doom titles on Switch, combined with Microsoft's cross-platform strategy, makes this a possibility. A Switch 2 release would be a significant coup.
The Haunted Chocolatier
Following the success of Stardew Valley, The Haunted Chocolatier is a highly anticipated indie title. A Switch 2 launch would be a perfect fit, offering a compelling handheld experience. While a launch day release might be optimistic, a launch year window is plausible.
Earthblade
As a sequel to the beloved Celeste, Earthblade is another strong indie contender. Its 2025 release window aligns with a potential Switch 2 launch.
These titles represent a diverse range of genres and styles, promising a compelling launch lineup for the Nintendo Switch 2.
