Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, including several surprise game releases. This usually quiet Wednesday is anything but, and that's great news for us! We've got news, a review of today's eShop additions, and the usual rundown of new and expiring sales. Let's dive in!

News

Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved effective, resulting in a flurry of announcements. While I can't cover everything here, highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video for a complete overview. There's something for everyone!

Select New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania compilation joins the fray, courtesy of a surprise Direct announcement. This collection features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the notoriously poor arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. This is a high-quality release with excellent emulation and numerous features, offering incredible value for its price.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch as another surprise release. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to destroy it and save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will find this a must-have, but even those without a strong Wario connection who enjoy platformers should give it a try. A review is pending.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

The surprise releases continue! It's Goat Simulator 3. You know the drill. While I can't confirm its performance on the Switch, I know more powerful consoles experience some performance issues. Proceed with caution, though even poor performance might add to the game's chaotic charm. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide if this open-world goat simulator is for you.

Peglin ($19.99)

I believe EA missed a huge opportunity by not bringing PopCap's games to the Switch. But, alas, Peglin fills that void for Peggle fans. Already available on mobile, this title blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review will follow shortly.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft adds a licensed twist to its simulation formula with Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story. This standard Kairosoft shop sim features characters from the popular Doraemon franchise, with some nods to the manga artist's other works in the customer roster.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can join in local or online multiplayer. The puzzle stages require teamwork and strategic thinking. While not drastically different from the first game, it's a solid sequel.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game featuring music from Kamitsubaki Studio. Simple, but enjoyable for the price.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game starring a penguin. One hundred levels of crate-pushing await.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Players utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
