TikTok Is Back Online in the U.S. After Being Officially Banned on January 18

UPDATE (1/19/25) - TikTok has resumed operations in the U.S. after a brief outage.

A statement released by TikTok on X/Twitter explained that service restoration is underway in collaboration with their service providers. The statement expressed gratitude to President Trump for clarifying that service providers would not face penalties for providing TikTok to its American user base of over 170 million and the 7 million small businesses that utilize the platform.

The statement further characterized this as a strong defense of First Amendment rights and against arbitrary censorship, and pledged continued cooperation with President Trump to develop a long-term solution ensuring TikTok's continued presence in the United States.
