Discard players, get ready to celebrate! Khonshu, the God of the Moon, has arrived in *Marvel Snap*, bringing a game-changing tool for discard-focused decks. This card, introduced by Second Dinner, is one of the most complex yet, so let's delve into how Khonshu operates.
Khonshu is a 6-cost, 5-power card with an intriguing ability: When discarded, he returns in his next phase. On Reveal, he resurrects a card you discarded to another location with its Power set to 5.
Khonshu's 'next phase' transforms him into a 6-cost, 8-power card. When discarded again, he returns in his final phase. On Reveal, he resurrects a discarded card to another location, boosting its Power to 8.
Khonshu's 'final phase' is a 6-cost, 12-power card. On Reveal, he resurrects a discarded card to another location, setting its Power to 12.
As you can see, each discard of Khonshu upgrades him, enhancing his On Reveal effect significantly. His mechanics are reminiscent of Apocalypse, making him a powerful asset in discard strategies.
The ideal strategy with Khonshu involves discarding him one or two times before playing him on the final turn. This allows you to resurrect a card that benefits greatly from a power boost, such as Iron Man or Gorr the God Butcher.
Although Khonshu can't revive a specific card, playing a 12-power final phase Khonshu on turn 6 to revive a 1-cost, 12-power Meek can often secure a victory.
Finding the perfect deck for Khonshu will require some experimentation, as he doesn't fit seamlessly into traditional discard decks. Instead, he seems best suited for a Darkhawk-style Stature list, along with alternative discard-type decks. Let's explore the former:

The only Series 5 card in this list is Fenris Wolf, essential for resurrecting an opponent's discarded card from Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, or Black Bolt, often leading to a win.
The gameplay with this deck is straightforward: fill your opponent's deck with rocks to amplify Darkhawk's power, and aim to discard Khonshu as often as possible. Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, and Blade work together to ensure Khonshu gets discarded multiple times. Timing is crucial—discard Khonshu strategically to avoid hitting less impactful cards like Rock Slide.
Next, deploy Stature as early as possible to set up for a turn 5 Darkhawk and a turn 6 Khonshu, resurrecting a card with 8-12 power. Since all these cards have less than 8 power, Khonshu's resurrection significantly boosts their impact.
While Khonshu might not fit into traditional discard decks over Apocalypse, there's ample room for experimentation. His 6-cost nature makes it challenging to include him alongside Apocalypse without energy ramp, such as Corvus Glaive, as seen in the following list:

The only Series 5 card here is Scorn, which can be swapped with another discard activator like Colleen Wing or X-23 for additional energy ramp.
This list leans toward traditional discard but relies heavily on playing Corvus Glaive on turn 3 to enable playing Khonshu alongside other discard activators. This setup aims to buff Apocalypse and flood the board. Whether this outperforms traditional discard without Khonshu is yet to be determined, but you should have no trouble reaching Khonshu's final phase with Moon Knight, Blade, and Lady Sif while maintaining Apocalypse's strength for Dracula to absorb.
Regardless of your affinity for discard decks, Khonshu's power and unique mechanics make him a compelling addition. He is likely to feature prominently in hybrid discard lists and could become a meta-relevant card. If you have the resources, it's definitely worth acquiring Khonshu to explore his potential in your Marvel Snap arsenal.
