Top Redwing Decks for Marvel Snap Revealed

*Marvel Snap* fans have long felt the absence of more animal companions in the game. Aside from the likes of Cosmo, Groose, Zabu, and Hit Monkey, the roster of furry and feathered friends has been sparse—until now. With the launch of the Brave New World season, Falcon's loyal sidekick, Redwing, joins the fray, bringing a new dynamic to the game.

How Redwing Works in Marvel Snap

Redwing enters the battlefield as a 3-cost, 4-power card with a unique ability: "The first time this moves, add a card from your hand to the old location." However, there are key limitations to consider. Redwing's ability can only be triggered once per game, meaning strategies involving Symbiote Spider-Man or bouncing Redwing back to your hand to replay it won't work. Additionally, pinpointing a specific card to add with Redwing's ability can be challenging, especially in move decks filled with smaller cards like Iron Fist, or in Scream decks that primarily manipulate the opponent's board.

Despite these challenges, Redwing can still be a game-changer. Lower Collection Level players can leverage cheap move options like Madame Web or Cloak to reposition Redwing effectively. With the right setup, Redwing can facilitate surprising victories, such as enabling an early Galactus play or pulling a heavy hitter like The Infinaut into play.

Best Day One Redwing Decks in Marvel Snap

Last season saw Ares and Surtur dominating *Marvel Snap*, and they continue to be formidable with a new Scream-based build. This deck aims to gain power from cards like Aero and disrupt opponents using Heimdall, and Redwing fits seamlessly into this strategy, although Surtur remains the preferred turn 3 play. Here's the deck list:

  • Hydra Bob
  • Scream
  • Kraven
  • Captain America
  • Redwing
  • Polaris
  • Surtur
  • Ares
  • Cull Obsidian
  • Aero
  • Heimdall
  • Magneto

This is a high-cost deck featuring several Series 5 cards: Hydra Bob, Scream, Redwing, Surtur, Ares, and Cull Obsidian. If Hydra Bob is out of reach, consider substitutes like Rocket Raccoon or Iceman. The strategy revolves around playing Surtur on turn 3, followed by high-power cards to boost Surtur's power, with an alternative win condition of stealing power using Scream. The deck includes 'push' cards like Polaris, Aero, and Magneto, and Redwing can be used with Heimdall to both buff Surtur and pull a powerful card from your hand.

Another potential home for Redwing is in a deck with Madame Web, especially after Dagger's nerf diminished the viability of move decks. Here's an Ongoing deck that might suit Redwing:

  • Ant-Man
  • Madame Web
  • Psylocke
  • Sam Wilson
  • Captain America
  • Luke Cage
  • Captain America
  • Redwing
  • Doom 2099
  • Iron Lad
  • Blue Marvel
  • Doctor Doom
  • Spectrum

This deck includes two Series 5 cards: Madame Web and Doom 2099. While Madame Web isn't essential, removing her would necessitate dropping Redwing as well, in favor of another Ongoing card like Mobius M. Mobius. The primary goal is to deploy Doom 2099 early to spread power across all locations. Madame Web aids this strategy by allowing you to reposition Doom 2099's bots and move Sam Wilson's shield. Redwing's ability can be activated by moving it with Madame Web, enabling you to pull a card from your hand on the next turn. On turn 6, aim to play either Doctor Doom or Spectrum to either spread or spike your power and secure a win.

Is Redwing Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

Currently, Redwing may not be the best investment of your Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector's Tokens. It's an underpowered card that fits into an archetype that struggles to compete. It's advisable to save your resources for more impactful cards later in the month or in future updates. Unless Second Dinner significantly buffs Redwing, it's best to look elsewhere for your next addition to your *Marvel Snap* collection.
