Mastering Monster Trapping in Monster Hunter Wilds: A Guide to Trap Tools
While monster slaying is thrilling, efficient monster part collection for armor crafting necessitates mastering the art of trapping. This requires specific materials – Trap Tools. This guide explains how to acquire them in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Monster Hunter Wilds doesn't explicitly guide players on trapping or obtaining Trap Tools; however, veterans of the series will find the process familiar.
The primary method for acquiring Trap Tools is purchasing them from the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Interact with him, browse his inventory, and purchase Trap Tools at 200 Zenny each. Buying several is advisable, particularly for farming specific monsters or aiming for a complete monster capture collection.
Trap Tools are exclusively available for purchase at Base Camp; unlike other resources, they cannot be found in the wild.
Utilizing Trap Tools Effectively
With Trap Tools in hand, it's time to utilize them. Combine them with a Net (using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor to craft a Shock Trap.
Both trap types are effective, but remember that certain monsters are immune to specific traps. For example, Shock Traps are ineffective against Rey Dau, a lightning dragon, rendering Pitfall Traps the preferable choice.
Crucially, only one Trap item can be carried at a time. Strategic use is key, deploying traps only when the monster is vulnerable.
