"Tribe Nine Canceled Just Three Months Post-Launch"

Author:Kristen Update:May 23,2025

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be shuttered. According to a recent news post, the servers will be shut off on November 27th, with any upcoming updates now cancelled. This marks an acrimonious end for Tribe Nine, which just a couple of months ago celebrated over ten million downloads. The game, inspired by the anime series of the same name and featuring art by Danganronpa veteran Rui Komatsuzaki, offered regular ARPG gameplay alongside the unique Xtreme Baseball boss battles that fans of the series will recognize.

Tribe Nine's abrupt cancellation continues a concerning trend over the last few years, where many games have been shut down within less than a year of their launch. For fans, it can feel disheartening to invest time and energy into these games, especially with the ever-looming threat of an end-of-service (EOS) announcement.

ytTribelessGiven that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has been well-received in other games like Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy-, it's puzzling why Tribe Nine was cancelled on the service. This swift decision might negatively impact developer Akatsuki Games, especially as they prepare to launch another anime-based game, Kaiju No.8: The Game. While they hope to attract fans of the existing series, casual players may hesitate due to Akatsuki's recent track record. Regardless, for fans of Tribe Nine, it's not exactly a happy Friday.

On a brighter note, there are still many fantastic releases out there to explore. Why not check out our latest feature on the top five new mobile games to try this week? You might discover your next favorite game.

In light of the EOS announcement, Akatsuki Games has confirmed that paid Enigma Entities will be refunded, and in-game purchases will be halted immediately to ensure a smooth transition for players.
