WB Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 27,2025

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Warner Bros. has decided to cancel an unannounced paid DLC for their popular game, Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came this week, reportedly due to concerns that "the amount of content was not substantial enough to justify the price being considered." Warner Bros. chose not to comment on the matter when approached by Bloomberg.

This cancellation comes at a time when Warner Bros. is undergoing significant restructuring within its gaming division, prompted by ongoing financial challenges. Earlier in the year, the company also canceled its planned Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio responsible for its development, Monolith Productions, along with WB San Diego and the MultiVersus studio, Player First Games. Additionally, Warner Bros. laid off employees at Rocksteady Studios just last September.

Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to view Hogwarts Legacy and the broader Harry Potter franchise as key assets. The company has emphasized that a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy is "one of the biggest priorities" as they shift focus towards fewer, yet more substantial, franchises. The original Hogwarts Legacy game has been a massive success, selling over 30 million copies.
