Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found within the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to strategically weaken the Lifer, making the encounter significantly easier.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides at the maze's heart in Oakheart Highcourt, beneath a massive tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer's Board Game

Inside, players find the Lifer beside a six-piece board game. The objective is to connect three pieces before the Lifer does. Controlling the black pieces, players can manipulate the maze's walls by placing pieces on the outer circle, opening gates in that direction. The game can be exited and resumed, preserving piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Avoid winning before debuffing the Lifer, as it will immediately attack.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs, four removable using the Stake of Imbalance. These buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: HP regeneration after 2 seconds of inactivity.
  • Desire for Escape: Significant ATK and DMG increase over time.
  • Impending Stalemate: ATK increase stacking with each DMG dealt.
  • Decay of Time: High elemental resistances and increased Max HP.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: Reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking significant DMG.

To obtain the Stakes of Imbalance, use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (marked by a white glow). Some rooms require defeating Tacet Discords or breaking Friable Rocks.

Place each Stake of Imbalance in the corresponding module to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow once a buff is removed.

Defeating the Lifer

After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer. The fight becomes significantly easier. Winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!" initiates combat. The Lifer's attacks pose minimal threat without its buffs.

Victories yield rewards:

  • First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
  • Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + three Basic Supply Chests
  • Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + three Standard Supply Chests

Re-enable buffs for a greater challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements

Four achievements are associated with the Lifer:

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (three victories).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game 10 times.

For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's attempts to create a line. Its mistakes will eventually provide opportunities to win.
