Netflix, SEGA Vet Yu Suzuki Launch Steel Paws

Steel Paws is a new Android action RPG available exclusively to Netflix subscribers. Developed by Yu Suzuki, the SEGA veteran behind classics like Virtua Fighter and Shenmue, the game lets you fight through a massive tower with an army of combat-ready robot cats.

What’s the Story?

You control a purple-haired warrior in a mechanized suit, battling robotic enemies alongside loyal, cat-like Buddy Robots. These mechanical felines serve as your most reliable weapons, and you can execute team attacks that launch them into enemies like furry missiles.

The adventure begins when an ancient tower bursts from the ground, sending shockwaves throughout the world. Intrigued by a floating stone covered in mysterious symbols, the hero enters the structure.

Immediately, her robotic cat companions are taken captive. A sinister, unseen voice informs her that to get her friends back, she must fight her way to the top. So begins her ascent, climbing floor by floor, confronting mechanical adversaries and unraveling the tower's secrets.

Steel Paws Is a Sci-Fi Fantasy

The combat system emphasizes fluid, engaging action, rewarding well-timed strikes and smart use of special abilities. Each time your robotic cats attack, they unleash a powerful meow.

Convenient mid-stage checkpoints prevent you from losing all your progress after a defeat. You also have the freedom to adjust the game’s difficulty.

Steel Paws incorporates roguelike mechanics, so each time you replay a stage, enemy positions, resources, and map layouts shift. Environments also vary, introducing unique obstacles such as shifting sands or slippery ice in different levels.

At its heart, Steel Paws is built around fast-paced melee combat. If you’re a Netflix subscriber, you can download it now from the Google Play Store.
