Pesten With Cards, a traditional Dutch card game, literally translates to "Bullying With Cards." Similar pastimes exist across other nations under names such as Mau-Mau, Crazy Eights, Shedding, Puque, Чешский Дурак, Фараон, Крокодил, Tschau Sepp, or Uno. The objective of the game is straightforward—you aim to discard all your cards first. When doing so, you must declare "Last Card" before playing your final card. Forgetting this declaration results in a penalty of drawing two additional cards. Similarly, incorrectly announcing "Last Card" incurs the same penalty.
The game employs multiple decks, including jokers, distributing seven cards per player initially, while the remainder forms a face-down stockpile. The initial visible card determines gameplay flow, commencing clockwise turns. A revealed "Pest-card" at startup obligates immediate execution, mimicking the dealer's move.
During your turn, slide a compatible card onto the pile; compatibility depends on matching either rank or suit. Exceptions include jokers and jacks, applicable universally. Failure to match requires drawing from the stockpile, with optional immediate play of newly drawn cards.
Upon holding only one card left, clicking the "Last Card" button alerts others of your impending victory. Neglecting this step upon playing your last card triggers penalties. Additionally, special cards dictate actions based on their values, customizable via game settings to align with regional preferences.
Special Card Actions:
- Joker: Forces the next player to draw five cards, escalating penalties for each subsequent joker played.
- Two: Requires the next player to draw two cards, extendable further with additional twos or jokers.
- Seven: Mandates immediate follow-up play unless unable, necessitating a stockpile draw otherwise.
- Eight: Skips the next player’s turn, allowing the one thereafter to act.
- Ten: Initiates a card exchange among players moving leftward.
