PHASE 10 RULES:

A phase is a specific combination of cards. Phases typically consist of sets (cards of the same value), runs (cards in consecutive ascending order), cards of one color, or a mix of these. As the name implies, there are ten phases to complete.

The dealer shuffles the deck and deals 10 cards face down, one at a time, to each player. Players hold their cards so others cannot see them.

Completing phases

▪️ Phases must be completed in order, from 1 to 10.

▪️ A player must have the entire Phase in hand before laying it down.

▪️ A player may lay down more than the minimum Phase requirements, but only if the extra cards can be directly added to the existing Phase cards.

▪️ Only one Phase may be completed per hand.

▪️ If a player successfully completes a Phase, they advance to the next Phase in the following hand. If they fail, they must attempt the same Phase again next hand.

▪️ Players receive credit for a Phase as soon as it is laid down. Winning the hand is not required to get Phase credit. Multiple players can complete their Phase in the same hand.

Also, if a player has the required Phase in hand, THEY ARE NOT FORCED to lay it down. The player must still discard a card at the end of their turn.

Going out and Ending the Round:

After completing and laying down your Phase, you must try to play out the remaining cards in your hand.

Remember: You MUST ALWAYS draw one card at the start of your turn and discard one card at the end.

Scoring a Round:

Once a player has laid down their Phase and discarded their last card, the round ends.

Players tally the total value of cards left in their hands (fewer cards is better) and score them as follows:

▪️ Five points (5) for each card valued 1-9

▪️ Ten points (10) for each card valued 10-12

▪️ Fifteen points (15) for a Skip card

▪️ Twenty-five points (25) for a Wild card

Remember, your goal is to have the LOWEST score by the end of the game.

Finishing the game:

If only one player is attempting Phase 10 and completes it, they win immediately. If multiple players complete phases in the same hand, the one who completed Phase 10 with the lowest total points wins. In a tie, the tied players replay Phase 10; the first to complete it and discard all cards wins.
