Connu pour sa représentation de Roronoa Zoro dans la série One Piece Live-Action, Mackenyu exprimera Gennojo en anglais et en japonais. Ce caractère clé, qui se déroule dans le cadre du Japon féodal de Creed Shadows d'Assassin, jouera un rôle crucial dans l'aide au protagoniste. Ubisoft décrit Gennojo comme:

"Une figure charmante, téméraire et profondément conflictuelle, motivée par la culpabilité de démanteler un système corrompu. C'est un voyou coquette et un filou, équilibrant l'esprit, la trompe prêt à tout risquer pour atteindre ses objectifs. "
