Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially unveiled "Avatar: Seven Havens," a brand-new animated series expanding the beloved Avatar universe. Created to commemorate the franchise's 20th anniversary, this exciting project hails from original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

"Avatar: Seven Havens" will be a 26-episode, 2D animated series following the journey of a young Earthbender, the next Avatar after Korra. Set in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event, this new Avatar faces a daunting challenge: in this perilous era, her destiny is perceived as a harbinger of destruction rather than salvation. Hunted by both human and spirit foes, she and her long-lost twin embark on a quest to unravel their enigmatic origins and safeguard the Seven Havens before the remnants of civilization crumble.

DiMartino and Konietzko expressed their excitement in a statement, highlighting the unexpected longevity of the Avatar world and the rich tapestry of fantasy, mystery, and compelling new characters woven into this latest installment.

The series will be structured into two 13-episode seasons, "Book 1" and "Book 2." DiMartino and Konietzko are collaborating with executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi on this ambitious project. Casting details are yet to be revealed.

This marks the inaugural mainline television series from Avatar Studios, who are also developing a feature-length animated film centered on Aang, slated for theatrical release on January 30, 2026. This film will depict an older Aang embarking on a fresh adventure.

Further celebrating the 20th anniversary, Avatar Studios announced a diverse range of merchandise, including books, comics, concerts, toys, and a Roblox game.
