All Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Settings

Four difficulty levels are available, though initially only three are unlocked: Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). Ultimate Warrior (very hard) unlocks after completing a faction's main scenario. While there's a trophy/achievement for completing a battle on Ultimate Warrior, campaign completion trophies are difficulty-agnostic.

Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?

Historian is ideal for newcomers or players prioritizing story over intense combat. Wayfarer provides a balanced challenge suitable for most players, even those with limited Musou experience. Hero is recommended for series veterans seeking a greater challenge. Musou masters should consider Ultimate Warrior post-unlock for a significantly harder experience.

Difficulty can be adjusted between battles via the config menu without affecting story progression.

Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Historian simplifies combat, making enemy attacks easily blockable and enhancing staggering, bravery gain, and Musou Gauge filling. Hero increases enemy strength and aggression, reduces parry/evade windows, and removes Meat Bun drops. Bravery depletes on blocking, strategic influence is reduced, and rewards are slightly lowered. Ultimate Warrior intensifies Hero's challenges with even tighter timing windows and drastically reduced rewards.
