Clair Obscur Warns of Fake Esquie Plushie Sales

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 15,2026

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 boasts numerous unforgettable characters, but none bring as much delight as Esquie—the game's endearing giant companion who practically serves as its unofficial mascot. While the studio cautions against counterfeit merchandise, they've also hinted at an official Esquie plush currently in development.

Through a post on X/Twitter from the official Expedition 33 account, Sandfall Interactive highlighted a surge of dubious websites selling unauthorized Esquie plushies.

"Let us be clear: any third-party Esquie plushies being sold lack official licensing," the studio stated. "Many use AI-generated promotional artwork, and we strongly advise against purchasing from these sources—they may well be scams."

True to Esquie's whimsical spirit, Sandfall tempered this warning with hopeful news, confirming active plans for officially licensed plushies. "We're pushing to release them as quickly as possible," they added. "Until then, stay patient—and stay vigilant against scams!"

Players familiar with Expedition 33 will instantly understand the plushie's appeal. For newcomers, Esquie is a towering ally introduced in Act 1, serving as both companion and overworld transport—channeling Big Hero 6's Baymax in charm and functionality.

Given this, it's no surprise demand exists for an Esquie plush, making Sandfall's official efforts especially welcome. A quick online search reveals unlicensed sellers and fan discussions seeking legitimate options. Authentic merchandise from Sandfall and Kepler is still forthcoming—though whether the final product will retain Esquie's signature wine-filled design remains unconfirmed.

Sandfall Interactive recently rolled out Patch 1.2.3 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, fine-tuning balance adjustments for Maelle's Stendhal ability. The game also earned recognition from French President Emmanuel Macron, who applauded its developers as "embodiments of French creativity and boldness."
