Devil May Cry 5 has reached the incredible milestone of 10 million copies sold, with Capcom crediting the recent Netflix anime adaptation for helping achieve this success.

Originally launched in March 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, DMC 5 was critically acclaimed. IGN's review scored it 9.5, praising: "Devil May Cry 5's trio of outstanding combat styles sets a new series benchmark, while its mysterious narrative keeps players engaged throughout."

Half a decade later, Devil May Cry 5 stands as one of Capcom's most successful titles. "The game has maintained strong player engagement thanks to its exceptional gameplay, leading to sustained sales as a catalog title," the company stated.

Netflix Anime Boosts Franchise Momentum

Capcom enhanced the experience with additional playable characters and story elements before releasing the Netflix anime on April 3, 2025 as part of their Single Content Multiple Usage strategy.

"The animated series received global critical praise, accumulating over 5.3 million views and ranking fourth worldwide in English-language shows during its debut week. It maintained a top 10 position in Japan for seven consecutive days. Through these multimedia efforts and the game's outstanding action, the franchise has now surpassed 10 million global sales."

Looking Toward Devil May Cry 6

With the entire franchise exceeding 33 million sales since 2001 and DMC5's remarkable performance, speculation about Devil May Cry 6's development continues. The game's sustained success over six years makes a sequel seem inevitable.

While Capcom remains tight-lipped about future plans, the company currently focuses on existing titles like Monster Hunter Wilds and Street Fighter 6, alongside upcoming releases Resident Evil: Requiem and Pragmata.

As the best-selling entry in the Devil May Cry series and one of Capcom's top 10 highest-selling games ever, the return of Dante and crew seems certain. The only remaining question is timing.
