The wait is over for Fortnite fans in the U.S. as the game has triumphantly returned to the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad users. Developer Epic Games shared the exciting news through a post on X/Twitter, signaling the end of a five-year hiatus for mobile gamers eager to dive back into the battle royale sensation. The Fortnite iOS store page has made a comeback, looking just as it did on the day it was removed in 2020, but now proudly declares, “Fortnite is back!”

Fortnite is BACK on the App Store in the U.S. on iPhones and iPads... and on the Epic Games Store and AltStore in the E.U! It’ll show up in Search soon!

At the time of this story's publication, some U.S. Apple users might encounter difficulties finding Fortnite through the App Store's search function, though Epic assures that this will be resolved "soon." In the meantime, users can access its revived store page by clicking here. For gamers in the E.U., Fortnite is also available for download through the Epic Games Store and AltStore.

The re-emergence of Fortnite on iOS devices marks the conclusion of a dramatic saga between Epic and Apple. The conflict ignited in August 2020 when both Google and Apple removed Fortnite from their digital stores after Epic introduced an update that lowered the price of V-Bucks and implemented a direct payment system. Epic cited the "exorbitant" fees charged by Apple and Google as the reason behind their move.

This sparked a prolonged legal battle that kept Fortnite off official storefronts, depriving millions of players of their favorite game on Apple and Google platforms. The situation shifted in April when Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced Fortnite's return to the iOS App Store in early May, following a ruling by a U.S. Federal District Court in California. A last-minute delay due to continued resistance from Apple pushed back the return, but after five years, Fortnite has finally made its way back to iOS devices.

Players downloading Fortnite on an Apple phone or tablet can now choose to buy V-Bucks through the Epic Games Store or via in-app purchases. For instance, those opting for the 2,800 V-Bucks pack priced at $22.99 can pay Epic directly and receive $4.60 (20%) back to use on other Epic offerings.

Players discovered a way to make the bot say profanities, leading the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) to file an unfair labor practice charge against Epic just yesterday.
