Helldivers 2 has just rolled out a major new update, Patch 01.003.000, which is now live on both PC and PlayStation 5. This update introduces exciting new content, including fresh Illuminate enemies, weapon customization and progression, and significant changes to the Superstore.

Following several teases from developer Arrowhead, Helldivers 2 has launched a new invasion push from the Illuminate alien faction. The PlayStation Blog provides details on the new enemies, such as the Stingray, jetfighters that offer aerial support to the Illuminate by targeting Helldivers with devastating strafing runs. Another new adversary is the Crescent Overseer, capable of laying barrages on Helldivers even when they're in cover. Additionally, players will encounter the Fleshmob, a "failed" Illuminate experiment described as a brute battlefield force, a Frankenstein's monster of Voteless parts that Helldivers must work hard to destroy.

Arrowhead has also hinted at sightings of even larger ships, though their capabilities remain shrouded in mystery. This suggests that there may be more for players to uncover once they dive back into the game.

Helldivers 2 now has weapon customization and progression. For the first time, most primary weapons now have levels that players can achieve by completing missions, unlocking new attachments through Requisition. In addition to attachments, players can also unlock various patterns for their weapons, enhancing their aesthetic appeal.

Here's the official description:

Whether it's tweaking sights for precision, changing color patterns, adjusting magazines for ammo capacity, muzzles to optimize weapon performance characteristics or adjusting under-barrel attachments for the handling you want, you're in command of how your weaponry performs on the battlefield. This level of individual attunement is sure to make your favorite primary best in its class.

Arrowhead has also unlocked and deployed a stash of patterns for the FRV themed on the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds.Arrowhead has also released a variety of patterns for the FRV themed around the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. These new patterns will be available starting May 15, coinciding with the launch of the Masters of Ceremony Warbond.

And finally, the Superstore has been changed so items you want are always available, as opposed to players having to wait for items to come back into rotation. The Superstore has also seen changes, ensuring that desired items are always available, eliminating the need for players to wait for items to re-enter rotation.
